George C. Fakier, Sr. died on August 10, 1977 of a sudden massive heart attack. He was 72 years old and his generous heart could no longer take the strain of daily life. Today doctors would have had a chance at saving his life, but in 1977 the technology was not available. Screening tests along with diet and exercise help combat heart disease and save thousands of lives each year. Awareness and prevention are the two most important weapons we have in the fight against this disease. All pledges to George Sr.’s cause will go to research and awareness of heart disease.
