A siren sounds as an ambulance races past you. Who knows what may be going on inside that ambulance or how the outcome will affect someone’s life. That siren is an indication to everyone that all is not well in someone’s family. The high pitched wailing noise signals that a life is in danger. Often these lives are in jeopardy because of an undetected disease, a silent and deadly ailment that could have been prevented. The illnesses such as adult cancer, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), childhood cancer, and heart disease that take millions of lives each year need your help.

You may know someone who has been effected by one of these diseases, perhaps a loved one, friend or relative. Maybe you know someone such as Glenn Fakier who died January 23, 2004 due to Deep Vein Thrombosis. His life, cut short by a condition that was both detectable and preventable, was a great loss to his family and many in the community.

Every year too many lives are lost to diseases that could have been prevented. The ambulance sirens you hear serve as a reminder that enough has not been done to raise awareness. This year decide to aid in the fight against heart disease, adult cancer, DVT, and childhood cancer. Each time you hear a siren, pledge one dollar to Sirens of Sorrow Charities in your name or in the name of a loved one. One dollar at a time you can prevent the unnecessary deaths caused by these diseases. Make it your New Year’s resolution to give this year and be blessed in your own life through the power of comunity.
